DEF CON Groups
CTF
Overview
“Last Group Standing” is a classic Attack/Defense CTF, where you play against other hackers to compromise machines and attempt to stop other players from also gaining access. The longer you maintain your access, the more points you get.
Rules
Only one computer per DEF CON Group is permitted on the CTF LAN during the competition
Targets are listed on the Score Board page
Stay on the CTF network while playing
Do not attack other Players or the Score Board (ARP based attacks, etc.)
Do not scan machines outside the target IP range
Referees may change/add other rules at will to ensure fairness
Scoring Points
Create your DEF CON Group team tag in the following HTML format: <team>DC858</team>
Your team tag can be 40 characters long and contain (a-zA-Z0-9 _) and must not have leading or trailing whitespace
Your goal is to deface the web page on each target with your team tag
Once per minute (more or less) the scoring engine will see who currently has their team tag on the target, and score it
Players will try to put up their own defacements, take down other player defacements, and lock down the target to keep other players out
The team tag must be on the target for the scoring engine to register it, but the player can change the page however they like
If no one changes your team tag, you will be awarded a point once per minute for that target
Referees will work as a blue team to occasionally step in and change things on the targets. Fix the defacement, patch, roll back changes, etc., just to even the playing field and make things interesting.
